About the Polish B1 certificate exam

The B1 certificate exam (egzamin certyfikatowy) tests Polish as a foreign language and is run by the State Commission for the Certification of Proficiency in Polish as a Foreign Language. A certificate is commonly required for residence and citizenship procedures in Poland.

This trainer covers the grammar section, “Poprawność gramatyczna”: official sample papers and past exam papers from 2017 to 2024. Each test is 45 minutes and 30 points, the same as the real section.

What the tasks look like

The tests use the same task types as the real paper:

  • choose the correct form of a word in the text (multiple choice in the gap);

  • fill the gaps with words from a bank;

  • type the missing word or form yourself, with Polish diacritics;

  • rewrite a sentence using a given keyword, and mark your own answer against the key.

How to use it

Pick a test and start in Exam mode to practise under real conditions: a 45-minute timer and answers revealed only after you submit. Use Practice mode to check each task as you go. Every mistake comes with an explanation in English, Russian or Polish, and open answers accept all valid variants.

The trainer is completely free and works in your browser. Your attempts are stored on your device.

Frequently asked questions

Is this the official exam?

No. It is an independent practice tool built on official sample and past papers published by the State Commission. It does not replace the real exam or an exam course.

Is it really free?

Yes. There are no payments or cards. Tests from 2024 are open at once; to open the older ones you only need to enter your email.

Which parts of the exam can I practise here?

Only the grammar section. Listening, reading, writing and speaking are not covered.

Do I need to type Polish letters?

Yes. In open tasks diacritics (ą, ę, ł, ó, ś, ż…) count, because they are part of the skill being tested.

Can I read the explanations in Russian?

Yes. Switch the interface language to Русский, English or Polski and the explanations switch with it.
